The architecture around us

Learning-session about architecture surrounding us introduces key terminology og tools for studying architecture using the buildings and landscape of Louisiana Museum as its point of departure.
Aimed at primary and secondary school as well as high school we use our senses to describe the physical nature of the architecture and how it fits into the landscape, solve specific needs and how all of this affects us.
With Louisiana museum as an example we discuss what it means to feel at home in a building and how the architecture corresponds with its surroundings. We take a closer look at the architecture as form and function and dives into details such as materials, colours or sound, light and smell and look from here at the relationship between building and surroundings.
The Louisiana-led session provides students with the tools to talk about and evaluate architecture in their own surroundings. The session is organised using dialogue, observational tasks, form-experiments and take a close look at the plan drawings architects use to explain and convince others of their ideas.
In the workshop the students get to build their own imaginative house and learn to process ideas into actual form. The workshop applies to students who favour drawing and to those who like working in 3D.
Louisiana Learning offers 1- and 2-hour sessions. The teaching is tailored to the specific age group age and takes place within the exhibition through dialogue, drawing and writing. In the 2-hour session the second part is organised as a workshop where students work creatively inspired by the exhibition.
