Matteo de Leeuw-de Monti first met Sonia Delaunay as a young boy in her atelier in Paris in 1956.
Delaunay’s longstanding friendship and collaboration since 1925 with his grandfather and father, the owners of the former department store Metz & Co in Amsterdam, led him to an intensive study of her textile designs and paintings. For 30 years, he has contributed to numerous exhibitions and publications on Sonia Delaunay.
The Louisiana exhibition features some 150 works that Sonia Delaunay designed for Metz & Co.
In his lecture, Matteo de Leeuw-de Monti will highlight Delaunay’s long productive life as a painter and as a designer.
The lecture is introduced by Tine Colstrup, Curator of the Sonia Delaunay exhibition.
Please note, the lecture will be in English
