On October 30th the legendary drummer Alvin Queen (formerly with Oscar Peterson, Horace Silver and George Benson) will host a program of Jazz/Takes on 1970s New York Punk  with renditions of songs by Talking Heads, Television, Blondie, Patti Smith and The Ramones. This concert will also feature the spectacular French bass virtuoso, François Moutin, among others.

The Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective (NLD IJC) will in October/November/December take up residence at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art to produce three unique, exclusive and highly innovative concert projects.

Three of the greatest African-American drummers in modern jazz, Alvin Queen, Lenny White and Terri Lyne Carrington, will each lead their own concert alongside selected members of the NLD IJC to take us on a musical journey through jazz interpretations of repertoire and genres not previously translated through the lens of jazz, “Jazz/Takes” (jazz renditions) of 1970s  New York Punk, 1980s U.K. New Wave and 1990s Seattle Grunge.

The Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective is an association of prolific musicians from Europe, North America and South America, devoted to presenting unique and exclusive jazz performances of which cannot be heard anywhere else. The collective is led by pianist Niels Lan Doky, whom the international press has hailed as “the best pianist of his generation” and “one of the most important pianists that European jazz has given us in the last 45 years”.

The concert is supported by Augustinus Fonden, William Demant Fonden & Gangsted Fonden.
