Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective kicks off its Autumn jazz programme with the concert JAZZ/TAKE ON JIMI HENDRIX and presents one of the greatest guitarists of all time Mike Stern alongside another highly accomplished guitarist Leni Stern. With them on stage they have François Moutin, the French bass virtuoso, and his charismatic and energetic twin brother Louis Moutin on drums, along with guest vocalist Nana Nørgaard (aka Neu Sierra). Together, they will embark on a musical journey, reinterpreting Hendrix's timeless songs through jazz!

Please note, the concert ticket includes entrance to the museum.

American jazz/fusion guitarist Mike Stern is widely acclaimed as one of the most innovative, influential, and original guitarists of his generation. When first exposed to a larger audience as a member of Miles Davis’ celebrated comeback band of the early 1980s, Stern’s personal and refreshing blend of rock, blues, and jazz influences didn’t sound like anything anyone had ever heard before.

This concert is just the beginning of the exciting Autumn jazz programme in 2024. Join us again on 20 September when songs by Kurt Cobain and Nirvana are explored through jazz with saxophone icon Bill Evans leading an international stellar ensemble, and on 6 December when Amy Winehouse is interpreted by the great Manu Katché on drums and Felix Pastorius on bass, among others. Furthermore the programme includes presents Niels Lan Doky on 8 December, when he performs his first-ever solo piano concert in Denmark as part of his new concert series The Radius Of Now, showcasing his original compositions, as well as improvisational ‘Explorations’; spontaneous, abstract-poetic creations that delve deep into the present moment, rendering each performance a singular and extraordinary experience that cannot be replicated.
