On the occasion of his residency at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art with the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective, the multi-Grammy Award-winning drummer Lenny White offers a rare masterclass, for elite drum students of the Danish National Academy of Music. Lenny White’s work with Miles Davis (on the groundbreaking 1969 album “Bitches’ Brew”) and the iconic 1970s group Return To Forever (with Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke) positions him as one of the founding fathers of jazz/fusion. Passive audiences (spectators) are also most welcome.

The masterclass will feature a selection of the academy’s top drum students who will receive collective as well as individual instruction and advice from the Master. A student group of musicians on additional instruments will provide context for the student drummers to perform in.

All students are selected by the head of the Danish National Academy of Music’s jazz department, Anders Mogensen, who is also one of Denmark’s most prominent musicians and prolific jazz drummers.

The masterclass will be held in the museum’s Concert Hall and will be accessible for the general public at a ticket price of DKK 140 per person including full admission to the museum on the day of the masterclass. COVID-19 social distancing is observed and the hall’s audience configuration is planned accordingly.

The masterclass is supported by Augustinus Fonden, William Demant Fonden & Gangsted Fonden.
