How to get here?

  • By car

    From Copenhagen: Louisiana is located 35 km north of Copenhagen. Take exit E47/E55 if driving on the motorway or drive along the coast of the Sound (Strandvejen).

    From Elsinore: Louisiana is located 10 km south of Elsinore. Take exit E47/E55 if driving on the motorway or drive along the coast of the Sound (Strandvejen).

    Charging stations for electric cars
    Charge your electric car when visiting the museum. You will find four charging stations outside the museum at the end of Gl. Strandvej. The charging stations are by Clever type-2 AC 11-22 kW.

  • By train

    If travelling with the Danish State Railways (DSB), the Sound coastal route takes about 40 minutes from Copenhagen’s Central Station and 10 minutes from Elsinore. You get off at Humlebæk Station and from then it is approx a 10-15 minute walk to the museum. At the station you are welcomed by a red-brick sculpture, erected in 1994 by Per Kirkeby, one of the greatest figures of modern Danish art.

    If travelling with DSB’s Travel Card (Rejsekort) outside of rush hour your fare will be at a reduced price. On weekdays between 11-13 and after 18 and on Saturdays, Sundays and on Public Holidays.

  • By bus

    You can catch the bus number 388 and get off at bus stop Humlebæk Strandvej/Louisiana:
    From/to Lyngby Station via Klampenborg and Humlebæk Station
    From/to Helsingør Station.

  • By bicycle

    Remember that a special ticket is required if you bring the bicycle with you on the train. Read more. It is also possible to rent bicycles from Cykel Eksperten in Humlebæk Center (by the station) if you want to cycle to the museum or explore the area. Tel. 28 28 87 72 – note opening hours 9-18 weekdays, 10-15 Saturdays and closed Sunday.

    There is bicycle parking close to the entrance of the museum – please look out for and follow the signs.

PARKING

There is a free car park outside the museum’s main entrance as well as a car park at Humlebæk Inn (Gl. Humlebæk Kro) just north of the museum. There are also parking lots close to Humlebæk Station and a car park at the Humlebæk Centre as an alternative. The Humlebæk Centre is about a 10-15 minute walk from the museum.

There is also an area for bicycle parking close to the entrance of the museum – please look out for and follow the signs.

Parking spaces for the disabled are available on Louisevej in front of the museum’s main entrance. Please note, that it is not allowed to park outside the marked spaces on Louisevej.

If you are arriving by coach, the driver can only park the bus at Humlebæk Inn (Gl. Humlebæk Kro) on the paved parking lot and not on the gravel parking lot. If there is no available spaces on the paved parking lot the bus must be parked on Bakkegårdsvej in the Humlebæk Industrial Area (no time limit). Drop-off and pick-up in front of the museum is allowed, but all parking must be at either locations listed above.

The driver will be offered a cup of coffee while waiting. A voucher can be picked up at the museum’s main entrance when guests are being dropped off and can be used both at Humlebæk Inn or in the museum café.

Please note: The parking area by the museum is public and therefore has no CCTV. We recommend that you bring along all valuables and use the lockers inside the museum while visiting us.
